John Travolta opened up about the sad loss of his son Jett during a meeting with John Gotti, JR. as the pair bonded over their similar family tragedies.
The Grease star will portray notorious crime boss John Gotti in a new biopic, Gotti: Three Generations, and he met with the mobster's surviving son as he researched the role.
Gotti's youngest son Frank died in a road accident in 1980 at the age of 12 and Travolta admits chatting with 'Junior' about the tragedy evoked memories of Jett's passing in 2009.
He says, "His father lost a son, and I've lost a son, and we discussed that in depth and how painful that is and how painful that was for his father."
Speaking to the Associated Press, Travolta adds, "To hear what he went through and what his dad went through and the similarities of pain was healing."
Jett Travolta, 16, died from a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.
