Late country legend Johnny Cash will be the focus at a special auction at New York's SOTHEBYS this autumn (04) - when 650 items belonging to him go under the hammer.

Objects included in the auction include guitars, banjos, handwritten lyrics, photographs and Grammy Awards belonging to Cash and his late wife June Carter Cash.

And Cash's iconic country wardrobe will also be for sale, where bidders can vie for his suede fringe jacket, a long leather coat, boots , hats and shirts.

Sotheby's president LEILA DUNBAR says of the September (04) sale, "His influence extended far beyond any specific genre with his ability to blend the lines between country, folk, gospel, rock and pop.

"He and June Carter are true American icons, and this sale presents countless opportunities for collectors as well as fans of the Man in Black."
