Friends of Johnny Cash fear for the legendary singer after the death of his wife JUNE CARTER CASH last week (15MAY03).

Pal and neighbour WILLIAM LEE GOLDEN of the Oak Ridge Boys admits visiting the Cash house will now be a tough task, but he's happy that the couple's only child JOHN CARTER CASH will be there to help his father through his grief.

He says, "It's hard to imagine going over to that home. I know Johnny Cash will be lost there without his partner. It'll be a lonely home without her, but they have John Carter Cash as a living example of their love, so I'm sure that Johnny will be leaning closer on John Carter in the days ahead.

"He's probably the only one that can give him the comfort that he needs at a time like this because that's part of their union together and that is their son together.

"It's hard to imagine what they're all going through now because I know what the entire country music industry and family has to be going through."

June Carter Cash, who was married to the Country and Western star for 35 years, died at the age of 73 after complications during heart surgery.
