Johnny Cash Storms The UK Album Charts At No.4 Highest UK Charting Studio Album Ever 'Out Among The Stars'

Johnny Cash Storms The UK Album Charts At No.4 Highest UK Charting Studio Album Ever 'Out Among The Stars'

Music legend Johnny Cash has gone straight into the UK Album Charts at Number 4 this week, with his album OUT AMONG THE STARS, the newly discovered studio album, heralding his highest UK charting studio album ever, eleven years after his death.

Out Among The Stars is a remarkable new album comprised of 12 recently discovered Johnny Cash studio recordings, originally recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Columbia Studios in 1981 and 1111 Sound Studios in 1984 and produced by Billy Sherrill.

Son John Carter Cash, who along with the Cash experts at Sony Legacy was responsible for unearthing and restoring this 'lost' album commented: "I am thrilled to hear that Out Among The Stars has gone No. 4 in the UK. A lot of care and attention went into restoring these recordings so that they could be released as a proper studio album, and it's great to know that Cash fans in the UK are enjoying listening to it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. To achieve this incredible chart position is a real tribute to my dad and I know he would be honoured and excited with this result."
The recordings, which have never been released in any form, are not demos, outtakes or alternate versions.  They remained in the vaults during the years Columbia Records released Johnny Cash's last albums for the label and were subsequently forgotten. Out Among The Stars has given Johnny Cash his highest ever charting studio album in the UK - this honour was previously held by his 1970 album The World of Johnny Cash which reached No. 5.
