The country music star Faith Hill is being hailed as one of the stars of last night's People's Choice Awards (Wednesday, January 11th, 2012). She may not have won the Favourite Country Artist award - that honour was bestowed upon Taylor Swift - but her rendition of 'Come Home' is being touted as a highlight of the awards show. Despite stealing the show, Hill had an evening away from her husband Tim Mcgraw, who was nowhere to be seen.
The track is a cover of a OneRepublic song and Hill's version will be the lead single from her new album, Illusion. The album is scheduled for release on February 28th. During Wednesday night's performance, Faith wore a full-length red cat-suit and was backed by a six-piece band. Demi Lovato, who won the award for Favourite Pop Artist, also performed a version of 'Give Your Heart A Break' on the show, which saw Emma Stone win the Favourite Movie Actress Award and Katy Perry swept the boards with five awards. In the wake of her divorce with Russell Brand, though, she was unable to attend the show. The ceremony was presented by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco. Johnny Depp was voted Favourite Movie Actor, for his performances in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Faith Hill's last album, Joy to the World was released in 2008. In 2004, she was the recipient of the Favourite Female Musical Performer at the People's Choice Awards.
