Pop star Ke$Ha took to the stage to perform with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and THE BLACK KeYS drummer Patrick Carney at a Tom Petty tribute gig in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (14Nov12).

Petty Fest, an annual New York charity tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, went to L.A. for the first time this week (beg12Nov12) with acts on the bill including Carney, Nick Valensi and Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, funnywoman Sarah Silverman, and former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum.

The show at the El Rey Theatre was packed full of surprises, including an appearance by Kings of Leon star Jared Followill, as well as keen musician Depp, who played guitar on a Petty track with a number of other musicians, including Ke$ha and Carney.

Ke$ha expressed her delight after the show by posting a picture of the ensemble performance on her Twitter.com page, writing, "Life is weird and magical. Just got off stage w/ (with) Johnny Depp and Patrick Carney. Wet dream? Nope. Real mutha (sic) f**kin life. Petty Fest."

The New York show took place on 24 October (12), and the L.A. leg features a second night on Thursday (15Oct12). All proceeds go to good causes, including the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which provides financial assistance to rockers who are struggling with illness, disability, or age-related problems.
