The unnamed suspect, who was dressed as Depp's pirate character Captain Jack Sparrow, complete with a live parrot on his shoulder, is alleged to have confronted security workers on the set of the fifth film in Australia's Gold Coast on Tuesday (10Mar15), and run off into bushland after the bust-up.

The incident sparked a major police hunt using dog teams, and the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday (11Mar15).

The 22 year old from Scarborough, who has not been named, has been charged with one count of going armed as to cause fear. He was reportedly arrested after police found him hiding in a nearby superstore.

The news comes as the film's star Depp has flown back to the U.S. to undergo surgery on his hand. The actor picked up the injury during his time Down Under, and he was pictured clutching his wounded hand as he jetted out of Australia on Wednesday (11Mar15). He was seen sporting tape and heavy bandaging as he boarded a plane back to Los Angeles, but appeared in good spirits as he smiled and waved for the cameras at the airport.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due for release in 2017.
