We are delighted to announce that Jon Hopkins has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for his soundtrack to Monsters, in the category of Best Original Film Score. The OST to Monsters will be up against John Powell's soundtrack to How To Train Your Dragon and Harry Gregson-Williams' for Unstoppable at the awards ceremony which takes place on Thursday 19th May at Grosvenor House in London.
Monsters is an experimental sci-fi film, a road movie and a love story all rolled into one. Directed by BAFTA award-winning CGI animator Gareth Edwards the film garnered great praise around its release last November.
Filled with beauty, heartbreaking sadness and tension, the score is built on string parts performed by legendary arranger Davide Rossi, which were then processed electronically and combined with Hopkins's trademark electronics to create a distinctive and emotive soundworld, to echo the beautiful photography and colouring within the film.
