Jon Voight looks at pictures of his daughter Angelina Jolie's children in gossip magazines.

The 71-year-old actor admits he always seeks out new photographs of his daughter's family - Maddox, nine, Pax, six, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - but doesn't like to read the accompanying stories about the actress and her partner Brad Pitt.

Discussing the gossip press, he said: "Sometimes you don't like it because sometimes it's distorted stuff. But I like seeing them no matter where they are. I don't read the stuff; I just look at their pictures and swoon. I love them."

Jon also confessed he was hoping to see them while in Los Angeles to promote new TV show 'Lone Star' after recently missing out on an internet conversation with his eldest grandchild.

He told America's OK! magazine: "I've been away from my computer so I couldn't get back to Maddox. I'm probably going to see him while I'm here. If I can see them in the flesh that's better than Skype."

He also sang the praises of Shiloh, saying: "She's four years old but you can never tell what she knows to look at her face all the time."

Jon - who was estranged from Angelina for many years until they reconciled in February - has previously admitted he relies on technology to stay in contact with his family.

He said: "It's hard for me to be away from my grandkids, yes, but I'll stay in touch with them.

"Thank god we have this technology, and you know, we use all of it. We're just setting it up now. Anyway, I love being in touch with the family."
