Josh Brolin is in talks to star in Sean Penn's 'Crazy for the Storm'.

The 'Men In Black 3' actor has entered negotiations with Warner Bros. about the prospect of appearing in the big screen adaptation of keen surfer and skier Norman Ollestad's memoir of the same name.

The book reveals how the skills Norman's father - who Josh will portray in the movie - taught him when he was young helped him to survive a plane crash which left him stranded alone on a mountain at the age of 11.

Sean is thought to just be inline to helm the movie rather than star in the motion picture, which would see him return to the director's chair for the first time since he made 2007 biographical drama 'Into The Wild'.

Bill Gerber, Fonda Snyder and Rob Weisbach look set to produce 'Crazy for the Storm', which is expected to start shooting in the first quarter of 2013.

Josh and Sean are both due to star in forthcoming crime drama movie 'Gangster Squad' alongside Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, with the 52-year-old actor-and-director set to play Los Angeles gangster Mickey Cohen.
