The release of Jude Law's anticipated movie Alfie has been pushed back by two weeks to take it out of competition with Ben Affleck's film SURVIVING CHRISTMAS.

Bosses at Paramount Pictures have decided to move the remake of Michael CAINE's 1966 film from 22 October (04) to 5 November (04) to avoid a crush of upcoming films targeted at females.

As well as avoiding Affleck's Surviving Christmas, the new date means Alfie will now no longer be up against Sarah Michelle Gellar's thriller THE GRUDGE.

I Heart Huckabees, which features Jude Law, has performed impressively with a limited release at a small number of theatres in America, prompting bosses to put it on wide release from 22 October (04).

Alfie will now be competing with animated movie The Incredibles.
