British actor Jude Law received a warm welcome from the President of Bolivia last week (13Feb15) as he arrived in the country for the annual Carnival celebrations.

The Sherlock Holmes star was invited to attend the weekend's (14Feb15) Carnival of Oruro as guest of honour and he met with President Evo Morales and Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera at the presidential palace in La Paz on Friday (13Feb15), when he was presented with a traditional poncho woven by the indigenous people of the Andes.

He then spent Valentine's Day on Saturday (14Feb15) enjoying the festivities of the religious event in the city of Oruro, where he was photographed donning a colourful traditional hat and taking part in a ritual known as Challa, offering the first sip of beer to Mother Earth by pouring it on a fire during the parade.

Law's appearance in Bolivia was the result of a government push to promote the Carnival by inviting international celebrities to attend.
