Happiness Is A Warm Directors' Seatby Contributor | 13 December 2006
Julia Roberts appears to be following in the Steps of several big-name Tinseltown stars, by taking the backseat in her latest project.
Although ROBERTS may yet also star in the film version of LOLLY WINSTON's HAPPINESS SOLD SEPARATELY, she has already signed on to produce the feature, which will be directed by SCOTT COFFEY.
COFFEY, a friend of ROBERTS', said: "I've been looking for something to do with Julia for a really long time and I finally found the project that was worthy of her."
Another ageing actor, George Clooney, has managed to hit the nail on the head when it comes to why many of Hollywood's elite deign themselves capable of directing and producing when they get bored of acting for their millions.
Talking to People magazine in response to winning the prestigious Sexiest Man Alive title, he admitted he is getting too old for capers in front of the camera.
CLOONEY said: "Directing is the key to filmmaking. Everything else is just paint.
"I don't yell at people through a megaphone though. I'm very modern. I have someone that I yell at and they yell it out loud."
And with Mel Gibson also revealing that perhaps he is better off behind the camera than in front of it, even more A-list movie stars seem to be using their considerable fortunes to keep on going in the industry.
