Julian Lennon is forced to bid for his dad John Lennon's rock memorabilia anonymously - because other buyers raise the stakes when they know they are competing against the beatle's son.
The singer has been collecting keepsakes related to his famous father for 20 years, but admits he often faces stiff competition from rich fans who get a thrill out of winning a bidding war rock royalty.
So Julian, who was 17 when his dad died, has to make his offers in secret.
He tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "A lot of people like to play games at auction. Some people, if they know it's me, will back down so that I've got a chance. There are a lot of very, very wealthy people, so sometimes there is not a chance in hell that I will get the stuff that I am going for. But there are some people that will step in the way just to get one over. What can I say? People can be strange."
But Julian insists he doesn't mind buying items that he should have inherited from John, adding: "I feel fortunate that I can afford to get some of these items back. I'd rather try to live life to the full (than be bitter). That's all I'm concerned about now."
