Julianne Moore embarked on a controversial juice diet when she needed a quick-fix weightloss trick ahead of the Golden Globe Awards.

The Boogie Nights star ordered a special designer dress for the prizegiving when she heard she had been nominated for her role in political Tv movie Game Change, but was left panic-stricken after Christmas (12) when she realised she might not fit into it.

Moore needed to lose the extra weight she gained over the holidays before the ceremony on 13 January (13), so she cut out proper meals and embarked on a strict 'juicing' diet to shed the pounds in just under two weeks.

She tells The Sunday Times Style magazine, "It's so unfair. They (the Golden Globes) fall just 13 days after the end of the Christmas holidays. Realistically, you only stop eating and drinking too much on January 1, and I was certainly no exception... I did... this juice thing. I've never done one before, but I was desperate."

Moore's hard work paid off and she walked the red carpet in a black and white Tom Ford gown before picking up the award for Best Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Tv.

Controversial liquid-only weightloss schemes have previously been used by stars including Beyonce and Demi Moore, who both survived on nothing but a cocktail of maple syrup, lemon water and cayenne pepper.
