Julianne Moore has joined 'Still Alice'.
The 52-year-old actress has landed the star role after signing up to play a university professor in an adaptation of Lisa Genova's novel, according to Variety.
The story follows a cognitive psychologist (Moore) who faces the early onset of Alzeheimer's disease and as the illness takes over her, the relationships between her family begin to break down.
Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland - who directed and penned 'The Last of Robin Hood' - are on board to direct the ''moving and haunting'' adaptation.
Shooting for the ''heartbreakingly real'' movie is expected to kick off mid-February next year in New York City.
Meanwhile, Moore has recently signed up to star in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' after landing the role of rebellious leader President Alma Coin in parts one and two of the film franchise.
Production on the final two movies will begin this year for release in November 2014 and November 2015, respectively.
The second movie in the series, 'Catching Fire', is due for release in November.
