The Sound of Music star teamed up with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, to pen the first story of The Very Fairy Princess in 2010 and it has since spawned eight other instalments, with the ninth title, The Very Fairy Princess: A Spooky, Sparkly Halloween, due for release later this year (15).

Now Andrews and Hamilton are working with producers at Nelvana Enterprises to develop the books, which detail the adventures of little Geraldine, into a TV show, which is expected to launch in 2016.

Announcing the news, Andrews says, "The books are all about celebrating individuality. We hope to encourage kids to rejoice in their own unique passions and talents - even if they're different from that of their family or friends, and Nelvana is the perfect partner to bring our beloved Very Fairy Princess to a wider audience."
