French actress Julie Delpy has urged young actresses not to follow in the footsteps of sex symbols Marilyn Monroe and Lana Turner by relying on youthful glamour, because it will ruin their careers later in life.
The BROKEN FLOWERS star fears for women who trade on their beauty, as it means their happiness depends on their youth.
And she is thrilled she had the wisdom to avoid succumbing to Hollywood glamour.
Delpy says, "From early on I never wanted to build my life on being a pretty face. And I could have at the beginning. I was kind of a pretty girl and I could have built it all on being a sexy slut.
"But watching the life of Marilyn Monroe, the life of Lana Turner, it's so f**king tragic. Once their beauty is gone, it's like their life is over. They're like dead flowers."
