Mary J. Blige is in talks to join the cast of 'Rock of Ages'.

The 'No More Drama' singer may star alongside Tom Cruise - who is also in negotiations to work on the film - in the adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name.

According to Vulture blog, 39-year-old Mary would play Justice Charlier, the owner of exotic dance venue the Venus Club.

Cruise - who was recently pictured filming 'Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol' in Dubai - was initially in talks to play Dennis Dupree in the movie, but is now said to be more interested in playing bad-guy rock singer Stacee Jaxx.

'Hairspray' director Adam Shankman is currently behind the project with the show's original playwright Chris D'Arienze involved in The Script.

Although best known for her music career, Mary has appeared in a number of TV shows including 'Ghost Whisperer' and 'Strong Medicine' and in 2012 is set to star as Nina Simone in 'Nina'.
