Justin Bieber appears to have taken his music in a more mature direction, following the release of new single 'Boyfriend'. Bieber, who turned 18 earlier this month, sings a couple of explicit lyrics on the new song and raps several lines too.
In a track that many have described as the most vocally mature song Bieber has recorded, Boyfriend sees the teen sensation rap, "Baby take a chance or you'll never ever know, I got money in my hands that I'd really like to blow", before breaking into a Justin Timberlake style falsetto for the hook, singing, "If I was your boyfriend, never let you go.Keep you on my arm girl, you'd never be alone, I can be a gentleman, anything you want, If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go". Though Bieber fans appear delighted with the track, there was a technical glitch on iTunes that prevented them from downloading it early on Monday. Bieber eventually got on Apple's case, tweeting, "yo itunesmsuic im trying to romance 19 million ladies with my music.you are kinda screwing this up for me. LEGGO!".
The glitch didn't appear to have slow down sales of 'Boyfriend', and it quickly became No.1 on the iTunes singles chart after becoming available online. The song is the first single to be taken from Justin Bieber's forthcoming third album 'Believe'.
