Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are now engaged: that much we know, though details are beginning to trickle in as to the screenwriter's proposal in New York on Friday (August 10, 2012). A source said Jennifer Aniston openly wept at the dinner table as Justin Theroux proposed during an intimate meal in New York.
The pair dined at the local eatery Blue Hill restaurant in Greenwich Village, with Theroux finally plucking up the courage to ask his partner to marry him. The screenwriter, who had turned 41 that day, surprised Aniston with a diamond engagement ring during their quiet dinner. A source told People magazine, "[They looked] like a long-term couple in love", while another revealed to US Weekly, "Jen cried". A representative for Theroux confirmed the news soon after, saying in a statement, "Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage", while a source close to the couple added, "Everyone is really excited for them. It's amazing to see how happy Justin makes Jen, and everyone was always hoping that he would propose".
The forthcoming nuptials will be the first marriage for Theroux and the second for Aniston. She famously wed Brad Pitt before their acrimonious split, which saw the actor begin a relationship with ANGELINA JOLIE.
