Rapper Kanye West has been hit was a new copyright lawsuit for allegedly sampling an unauthorised song on his 2006 mixtape Freshmen Adjustment 2.
The Persuaders singer Robert 'Bobby' Poindexter has accused the Stronger hitmaker of featuring the R&B group's Trying Girls Out in a remix version of Girls, Girls, Girls, without seeking permission.
And last week (27Mar12) Poindexter filed legal papers at the United States District Court of Southern New York asking for $500,000 (£312,500) in damages.
AllHipHop.com has obtained a copy of the documents, which read, "I have offered to resolve this matter out of court with Kanye West. But in response, he has refused to even discuss any 'out-of-court' resolutions whatsoever. Nor has he provided any evidence that he is demanding others to cease and desist from selling the illegal version."
This isn't the first time West has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit - soul singer Syl Johnson waged a court battle against the rap star last autumn (11) over the unauthorised use of his Different Strokes on the hitmaker's Jay Z collaboration The Joy. The pair settled the suit last month (Mar12).
