The release of Kanye West's much anticipated new album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' is now only a week away (22nd November 2010), and early reviews of the record have been strong. According to MTV News, the 13 track LP is "dense and full of gems", and Rolling Stone said, "With Fantasy, he (Kanye) makes everybody else on the radio sound laughably meek".
'Twisted Fantasy', the follow up the hugely successful 2008 record '808s & Heartbreak', features collaborations with rapper Nicki Minaj, music mogul Jay Z and soul singer John Legend. An unfinished version of the song 'Power' was leaked onto the Internet back in May 2010, however, the track was officially released in July. Fans heard more of the record in September, when West performed 'Runaway' at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Three weeks later, the rapper performed the track on Saturday Night Live. On 23rd October 2010, West released 'Monster' as the third single, and the fourth single is confirmed to be 'All of the Lights'. On 5th October 2010, West released a short film named 'Runaway' about the romantic relationship between a man and a half-woman, half-phoenix, set to music by West himself.
The rapper caused controversy with his artwork selection for the record. The 33-year-old initially leaked a version of the album's cover on his Twitter page. The image depicted a nude woman on a red background with yellow border. However, a pixelated censored version of the cover is now being used on the iTunes store, and a different cover altogether is used on the album's Amazon page.
