Karen Elson and her rocker musician Jack White have announced they are to divorce after six years of marriage. Indie-folk singer Karen Elson married the White Stripes front-man in Brazil back in 2005 and the couple have two children together, reports People Magazine.
In a joint statement made today (10th May 2011), the couple say, "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow". Elson and White, who live in Nashville Tennessee, are bizarrely throwing a divorce party to commemorate the occasion. In their statement the pair say, "In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family". According to the invitation, the bash will include "dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them", but the couple warns that only "close personal friends and family" should attend.
Manchester born Karen Elson released her debut album 'The Ghost Who Walks' on 25th May 2010. The record peaked at number 16 on both the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart, and the UK Indie Chart.
