Kasabian will headline The O2 in London on New Year's Eve (31.12.11).

The 'Days are Forgotten' rockers will celebrate the turning of the year with an "amazing" interactive show incorporating a full orchestra, while Chase & Status are lined up as support act and Zane Lowe will DJ at the event.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said: "We can't drag in lion tamers and electronic elephants but we've got to up it.

"It's an interactive show - The Lights react to the crowd. Our shows are about what the crowd give back. We can add something to take people to outer space. It'll be amazing playing arenas."

Meanwhile, the group have admitted they are more focused on creating strong albums than having hit singles, though they admit this approach has led to some criticism.

Frontman Tom Meighan told the Daily Star newspaper: "We are an albums band now. We are believers in albums, it means we don't get the big hit singles any more.

"Sometimes we don't get the ¬credit we deserve. Some of the songs on the new record are beautifully crafted pop songs - 'Man of Simple Pleasures' is heartbreaking.

"Some Kasabian fans say we have gone a bit tame but we can't do Club Foot forever."

Tickets for Kasabian's New Year's Eve gig go on sale on Friday (11.11.11).
