Kate Bosworth says having Oscar de la Renta design her wedding dress was ''profound''.

The style icon - who tied the knot with filmmaker Michael Polish on August 31 - was overcome with emotion when she finally laid eyes on the beautiful strapless gown the 81-year-old fashion legend had custom-made especially for her.

She recalled in an interview with Lucky magazine: ''He's just seen it all, and the fact that I'll be able to share my most important moment to date with him is profound.

''I couldn't control my reaction to sitting with him and talking with him about my wedding dress. I was trying not to cry, so I probably had this bizarre twisted face on.''

Kate chose to keep things classic with the simple yet elegant ivory design, featuring a 8-foot-long, 16-foot-wide train.

While the 30-year-old star didn't have time to indulge in many beauty treatments to look her best before her big day, she took care of her skin at home with the help of SK-II's ''bridal transformation'' package, which features masks and creams to revitalise the complexion.

She joked: ''All my girlfriends take photos and send them to each other because the mask is quite ... comedic when it's on. It's sort of a luxurious, cotton take on the Hannibal Lecter mask.''
