Kate Bush chose to address her mother's death on her comeback album AERIAL rather than on 1993 disc The Red Shoes, because she only recently came to terms with the tragedy.

Bush was devastated when her beloved mum passed away, but admits her emotions were too raw to address the death in song.

However, 12 years later, Bush sings an elegy to her mum on the track A CORAL ROOM.

Bush says, "I mean, how would you address it (on The Red Shoes)? I think it's a long time before you can go anywhere near it because it hurt too much.

"I've read a couple of things that I was sort of close to having a nervous breakdown. But I don't think I was. I was very, very tired. It was a really difficult time."
