Julien Macdonald says it would be a dream come true if he's asked to design Kate Middleton's wedding dress.

The Welsh designer is a huge fan of the future princess - who is set marry Prince William next April - and would love to dress her on her big day as he knows she will make a stunning bride.

He said: "I love Kate Middleton. She always gets fashion right. She's not a trend-setter but a lot of women really like her style. She's a very classic girl, so I think she wants something classy. Her wedding dress will be a dream and I think she will look wonderful."

Julien - who is currently 6/1 with bookmakers to create the gown - is not the only designer in the running to make the much-coveted dress, with London-based Phillipa Lepley the frontrunner.

Although Phillipa, 41, refused to comment on the speculation, Rupert Adams, spokesman for bookmaker William Hill, said: "There has been a real weight of money behind Phillipa, which would normally suggest that she is at the very least on the shortlist to design the dress."

Other designers who are said to be in with a chance include Alice Temperley, Stella Mccartney and Jenny Packham.
