Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William will be among the Olympic ambassadors for 2012 as London's preparations for the games starts to gather real pace with less than eight months to go before the opening ceremony on July 27th 2012. The royal couple will be joining William's brother Prince Harry as the three ambassadors who will spend the months before the games travelling the length and breath of the UK meeting athletes and offering support as they all aim to reach the start line come the summer.
Entertainmentwise reports that this will be Middleton's first national engagement as a Royal and that she's yet to decide which sport she will endorse. However, a statement issued by her husband has revealed how excited the couple are to be involved with the games, saying "Catherine, Harry and I are honoured to be ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympics GB. We are hugely looking forward to this incredible sporting competition, but are also looking beyond next summer's Games to the springboard it will provide for future success."
For their part, the chief executive of the British Olympic Association Andy Hunt was equally effusive in his delight at the pair being on board, a statement reading "It is a great motivation for Team GB that the Duke and Duchess and Prince Harry are supporting their efforts next year and we hope together we can ensure that the whole of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is behind our athletes in their quest for Olympic success."
