Broadway theatres dimmed their lights yesterday (01JUL03) in tribute to Katharine Hepburn who died on Sunday (29JUN03).

Other acknowledgements of her talent were felt across New York, including at a production of TEA FOR FIVE - a one-woman show starring Kate Mulgrew about Hepburn's life where the lead called for silence after her curtain-call.

Theatre-goer ANN CODY and her two children said, "My daughters and I have always loved Katharine Hepburn. We felt this was special, especially tonight."

When lights were resumed in the theatres, audiences broke into rapturous applause.
