Katherine Jenkins is determined to persuade fans not to buy a new compilation album of songs released on her former record label. The Welsh classical singer says album 'One Fine Day' on Decca Records does not contain any new material and doesn't want fans to feel "conned" after buying it.
Speaking on her Twitter page, Katherine told followers, "Just heard that Universal @DeccaRecords are putting out Yet Another compilation album of my music called One Fine Day", before adding, "Considering that I haven't recorded 4them since 2008, there is NO new music & it's stuff u already have. Don't want u 2 feel conned". Once media outlets began reporting her request, the singer frequently linked fans to articles about the "con", saying, "Word is definitely getting around". Instead, Jenkins urged supporters to wait for her new album of fresh material called 'Daydream', released through Warner Music, saying, "Make sure you get the right one!" The mezzo-soprano signed a six-album deal with Universal in 2000, but signed for Warner in 2008. A spokesperson for Decca (owned by Universal), said, "Decca is delighted to be releasing a new collection of favourite Katherine Jenkins songs this autumn, coupled with a special bonus Dvd, to celebrate her extraordinary ongoing career and artistic progression".
Her latest record deal with Warner Music is reportedly the biggest classic recording deal in history, worth a reported $10 million. Her last album 'Believe', went gold in England, Ireland and Argentina.
