Opera singer Katherine Jenkins decorated a recording studio with tinsel and fake snow to recreate Santa's Grotto - because she was laying down tracks for a festive album in the middle of a summer heatwave.

The mezzo-soprano headed to the European republic of Malta earlier this year (12) to work on her record of Christmas carols and traditional festive songs, but she struggled to get a seasonal vibe in the studio.

Jenkins decided to adorn the facility's vocal booth with snowy-covered decorations, and she is adamant the Yuletide atmosphere helped her to capture the magic of Christmas.

She tells British magazine Fabulous, "We recorded the album in Malta and obviously it's quite difficult to feel Christmassy in the sunshine so I had the vocal booth changed into Santa's Grotto!"
