Katie Couric is leading a whole host of stars preparing for their first seasons as talk show hosts, with many citing the void left by the incomparable Oprah Winfrey as reason why so many are keen to make the leap into the interviewer's chair. The 55 year-old has had a distinguished career in television, but hasn't relied on her past accomplishments to get her new show over with the audience, The Huffington Post reporting that she's prepared for the debut of Katie by joining ABC News, co-hosting Good Morning America and flying to the UK to provide coverage of the Royal family. Her profile couldn't be higher at this point, with a year-long build since it was first announced that she'd be having a Monday evening talk show on Abc.

However, she isn't the only star looking to take a slice of the talk show pie. The New York Daily News reports that Ricki Lake and Jeff Probst will be battling for Monday night supremacy with their own shows beginning this week, whilst Steve Harvey premiered his new show last week.

The Oprah Winfrey Show had its final airing last year, but its legacy has lived on and many networks think that there are shoes to fill there. "Oprah put the biggest stamp on daytime that I think anybody ever will," said Probst. "She transcended beyond a show."
