'Paranormal Activity 5' has been confirmed for release next year.

Paramount Pictures have announced the latest film in the horror franchise will be released worldwide on October 15 2013, just two weeks before Halloween.

The 'found footage' series has grossed over $700 million worldwide since 2009's 'Paranormal Activity'.

The latest film in the franchise, 'Paranormal Activity 4', reached number one at the US box office earlier this year and has grossed $135 million worldwide.

The films follow the demonic possession of a family over the course of their lives. Actress Katie Featherston, 30, has appeared as Katie in all four of the films so far.

'Paranormal Activity' series creator Oren Peli - who also directed the first film in the franchise - recently confirmed a Latin spinoff series is in the works. Though the series will be in English, it will have a Latino cast and tackle Catholic mythology.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the Latin franchise, helmed by Christopher Landon and tentatively titled 'The Oxnard Tapes', will be a ''cousin'' of the original franchise, but feature the same demon as 'Paranormal Activity'.
