Katie Holmes claims her husband Tom Cruise was "so scared" after watching her new horror movie 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark?' that he couldn't sleep. The film, written by Guillermo Del Toro, follows a young girl who is sent to live with her father in his Gothic mansion.
During an interview with Reuters, Holmes and Del Toro recalled how Cruise first saw the movie a year ago, the actress said, "Well, he had to watch another movie afterwards in order to go to sleep because he was so scared. I'm not sure what he watched. Maybe The Sound of Music?" Del Toro added, "I think it was that Adam Sandler comedy, Don't Mess With The Zohan". The movie is based on the 1973 British television film, often hailed as one of the scariest ever made. Holmes plays Kim, the girlfriend of Guy Pierce's character, and the stepmother of Bailee Madison's 'Sally'. Young Sally begins to explore her father's eerie house, only to find a hidden basement with a sealed fireplace - behind which lies the evil creatures.
'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' is Katie Holmes' first real attempt at the horror genre. She last played Jackie Kennedy in the historical mini-series 'The Kennedys' and recently completed work on the upcoming comedy 'Jack & Jill'.
