John Mayer performed with The Rolling Stones last night (13.12.12).

The singer/songwriter took to the stage with the veteran rockers to join in with their 1978 hit 'Respectable' in the first of the band's two '50 and Counting' shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

John's girlfriend Katy Perry looked on from the crowd as he collaborated with the group - made up of Sir Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts and Keith Richards - who were full of praise for his performance.

A series of posts on The Rolling Stones' official Twitter account read: ''#StonesNJ Respectable ''Take it away John!'' Incredible @johnmayerguitar solo

''John Mayer! Take a bow John, fantastic! Thank you!'' #StonesNJ@johnmayer (sic)''

The band's final '50 and Counting' show will take place tomorrow night (15.12.12) at the Prudential Center, where the 'Brown Sugar' rockers will be joined by a star-studded line-up of artists including Lady GaGa, Bruce Springsteen and The Black Keys.

They said in a statement: ''We're excited these extraordinary artists, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and The Black Keys, have agreed to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary as we share the night live with our fans all over the world. Now the fun begins of trying to figure out the best songs to perform together.''
