Katy Perry 's had the press tittering after apparently making a huge gaff during a live show in America recently, though all might not be as it seems. The singer and wife of Russell Brand is currently doing the rounds in the US as the live promotion for last year's number one US Billboard charting 'Teenage Dream' reaches its final stages and a long time spent on the road seemed to be catching up with her as various sources - including the UK's Sun newspaper - reported her coming undone during a supposed flute solo.
The story goes that Perry was performing a cover of Jay Z 's 'Big Pimpin', and broke between the lyrics to play a flute instrumental. Except she wasn't. Stopping and turning back to the audience the singer was horrified to hear the flute continuing to play, proving that the star was miming; looking distraught Perry attempted to continue but eventually howled in frustration and gave up, proving that she'd been miming all along. Oh dear.
But Contactmusic delved a little deeper and it would seem that the 27 year-old has been taking a cue from her comedian husband and having us all on. More than one clip on video upload site YouTube show the star making the same 'mistake' and on her Twitter Perry said "P.S. Fail to all of you who fell for my scripted flute joke # Iminonthejokebooya." This begs the question, is this a hasty cover up story or is Perry in fact a comedy mastermind?"
