Katy Perry has moved out of the home she shared with Russell Brand.

While it was initially believed the comedian - who filed for divorce from the singer last month - would be the one to leave the $6.5 million property the former couple owned, Katy has reportedly moved just three miles away from the mansion in Los Feliz, California.

The 'Last Friday Night' hitmaker is said to have purchased a $1.9 million pad - which comes complete with five bedrooms and five bathrooms - as a temporary base until she finds somewhere more permanent to live, gossip website X17 reports.

Since Russell filed for divorce from the pop superstar on December 30, he had been staying in his native UK while Katy has sought solace in her grandmother.

A source recently explained: "Katy drove down to Santa Barbara to spend time with her grandmother. They're extremely close. Katy always runs to her granny when she's in trouble.

"She's been giving Katy a real dose of family love and strong advice about how to heal a broken heart."

Last week, Katy took to twitter to pay tribute to her supporters and reassure them that she has a "happy heart" once again.

She wrote: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."
