Katy Perry, the American pop singer and wife of British comedian Russell Brand paid a visit to the Facebook offices in California yesterday (19th January 2011) where she met with the website's founder, MARK ZUCKERBERG, reports the UK's Daily Mail. The 25-year-old was at the headquarters to appear on Facebook Live and announce her 'California Dreams' summer tour.
Perry has 17 million fans on the social networking site and after being asked why she was collaborating with the company, the singer joked, "This is Facebook. You're like the government. I love the internet and social networking. I am a child of the internet and am indebted to it". After meeting with the company's CEO, the singer tweeted a message to her followers and attached a picture of herself and Zuckerberg, she said, "Ya know just hangin' @ "the" facebook with "the" CEO. Baller style. I like him!" (sic) During her live stream, Perry announced the US and Canadian legs of her forthcoming tour which will kick off in Atlanta on 7th June 2011 before finishing up in her hometown of Santa Barbara on 14th August. The 'Hot n Cold' star also revealed how the tour would be fully "interactive", allowing fans to use Twitter and Facebook throughout the concerts where their messages will appear on a big screen.
Perry released her latest album, the GRAMMY AWARD nominated 'Teenage Dream', on 24th August 2010. The record debuted at number one on the 'Billboard 200' and the singles 'California Girls', 'Teenage Dream' and 'Fireworks' all peaked at the top of both the 'Billboard Hot 100' and the 'Hot Dance Club Songs' chart.
