Katy Perry combined elements of Hinduism and Christianity into her wedding ceremony when she tied the knot with Russell Brand in India yesterday (23.10.10).
Katy Perry's wedding to Russell Brand yesterday (23.10.10) contained a mixture of traditional Indian and Christian elements.
The couple tied the knot on Saturday (23.10.10) at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan, India, located near the Ranthambore National Park and the ceremony was performed by a friend of Katy's Christian minister parents, Keith and Mary Hudson.
A statement released by the newlyweds said: "Russell Brand and Katy Perry are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23. The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples' closest family and friends was performed by a Christian minister and long-time friend of the Hudson Family. The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India."
However a hotel official revealed that the bride and groom wore traditional Indian clothes, with Katy and other female guests dressed in saris.
News agency Press Trust of India reported that 21 camels, elephants and horses formed part of the groom's wedding procession from a nearby resort. He was also accompanied by traditional dancers and musicians.
