Shock Jock Howard Stern has signed up to produce a remake of the 1979 Ramones movie Rock N Roll High School.

The original movies starred the members of the band as they teamed up with a group of rebellious students to overthrow a tyrannical school principle.

According to Variety, Stern will work alongside Larry Levinson to produce the project, while Alex Winter has been hired as screenwriter.

Stern is famed for his near-the-knuckle broadcasting on the Sirus station, while Winter is remembered as Keanu Reeves' sidekick in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

Details about who will play the various members of The Ramones has not yet been released, but it probably wouldn't be unrealistic to thin that Johnny Depp might feature somewhere.

The Ramones toured almost non-stop for 22 years, releasing albums such as LEAVE HOME, ROCKET TO RUSSIA and TOO TOUGH TO DIE.
