Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood's most recognisable faces and has spent most of his life in front of a camera but the star of the Matrix is about to step behind the camera for the first time.

According to thewrap.com Reeves is currently in negotiations with the China Film Group and Australian studio Village Roadshow Pictures about directing and starring in a movie named Man of Tai Chi a Mandarin and English language kung-fu story that the Hollywood A-lister also wrote. The movie will also star Tiger Chen who was a member of the kung-fu team who helped Reeves prepare for his role in The Matrix. The Speed star plays the villain in the movie which includes a series of intense fight scenes, the Canadian actor is also celebrating his 47th birthday today (02.09.2011) and has enjoyed a successful career in Hollywood so far.

Born in Beirut to an English mother and Hawaiian father he first began to appear in feature films in the 1990s, starring alongside River Phoenix in Gus Van Sants 1991 independent hit My Own Private Idaho. He later went on to star in major blockbusters such as Speed and most notably The Matrix trilogy. He most recently worked on 47 Ronin which is the tale of a band of 18th century samurai who set out for revenge after their master is murdered.
