Keith Urban and LEE ANN WOMACK took to the stage in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday (06Nov11) to honour country music legend Don Williams.
The 72 year old was the guest of honour at the 49th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, where he received the prestigious Golden Note Award.
Womack paid tribute to Williams by singing his 1981 classic Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good, while Urban followed her performance with a rendition of We've Got a Good Fire Goin'.
Williams then performed two of his hit songs at the Opryland Hotel ceremony, before telling the audience, "I am overwhelmed. Of all the people I've always wanted to thank, it's always been the songwriters. You're the lifeblood of the industry, and for that reason I don't think I can take this award.
"Anyway... my heartfelt thanks. I'm so nervous, I'm about to pass out."
Other winners at the ceremony included Brad Paisley (Songwriter/Artist Of The Year) and Allen Shamblin, who won the Song Of The Year award for co-writing Miranda Lambert's hit The House That Built Me.
