Kellan Lutz was stunned when he was almost handcuffed to a fan.

The 'Twilight Saga' actor admits he is often left bemused by encounters with devotees of the vampire movie franchise and regrets not listening properly to a recent request.

He explained: "Recently a fan brought handcuffs to a convention that I was at. I didn't really pay attention to what she said, but she actually said 'Do you mind if I handcuff myself to you?' I was like 'Yeah, do it!' Then I heard this clunk-click noise of metal - and she almost got to me. Luckily, security stepped in."

The 25-year-old actor - who portrays vampire Emmett Cullen in the movie series - also admitted he is bombarded with requests for topless photos from his elderly fans.

He added: "I think us guys are fortunate to have such a great female fan base - from age eight to 80. I know my grandparents have lots of friends who are saying 'We want pictures of him topless.' It is quite the talk in a small town."

Kellan's co-star in the films, Robert Pattinson, recently admitted he uses the devotion of his fans to his advantage by using their websites to keep track of his diary.

He said: "It's kind of incredible the information they get so quickly. Sometimes I'll check them to see what my schedule is on stuff, especially on the weekend when I can't get through to my agency, or even to see my emails sometimes.

"It's strange being in 'Twilight' because so much of the fan base is being on the internet and having a community with each other."
