The History Channel have been hyping their new historical drama, Hatfields and MCCoys for some time now and after debuting last night, the reviews for the Kevin Costner-starring drama have been mixed. In some corners, the show seems to have brought about a rather intense hatred for the 'Dances With Wolves' star, with one Twitter user markjanese stating "I cannot remember if I hate Kevin Costner because he is a Hatfield or MCCoy or if it's just because he is Kevin Costner."
Amongst the more traditional media outlets, the New York Daily News gave the series 4 stars out of 5, praising the "ambitious six-hour dramatization of America's most famous and lethal family feud. That this ambience comes across says producer/star Kevin Costner and his team have done well." The series is also commended for making the viewer question who they are rooting for and why: "It's. a story without a lot of conventional heroes. Here, heroism is putting one foot in front of the other, obeying more commandments than you break and maybe passing on a few lessons that will someday make the world a little less short, nasty or brutish."
Los Angeles Times followed suit and were equally full of praise, describing Hatfields and MCCoys as "a star-studded, gorgeously produced and astonishingly nuanced look at America's most famous family feud." It seems as though the critics have taken to the drama with more enthusiasm than a lot of social media users.

I've seen far more positive comments than negative. Why bother giving people that thrive on negativity any free publicity. Costner's been dealing with them since Dances with Wolves won the Academy Award. People that have that much time to spew venom have way too much time on their hands.
