Kill Bill babe Uma Thurman believes she would have no problem tackling the action role of Tomb Raider legend Lara Croft, played by Angelina Jolie.

The blonde actress has won much acclaim for her high-kicking and sword-fighting in the new Quentin Tarantino movie in which she plays an assassin, and she thinks it would be no problem transferring these skills to the role of Lara.

Uma boasts, "I think it's kind of about time that kick-ass women like these have become popular. Women are very strong and courageous beings and, if we're just going to stick to portraying them in movies as people who are running away and need to be defended, it's kind of shallow.

"It's such a positive thing and a positive gesture to show women that can physically take care of themselves, that aren't dependent on somebody else."

The PULP FICTION star adds, "I think she and Lara Croft would get on fine together, but my character is lean, mean and down to business. She's not tying her t-shirt up and there's no posing. I'm not sure if I could take her - it would depend if I had my sword or not."
