Kim Kardashian has revealed she is suffering from psoriasis - a disease which often results in red and white scaly rashes appearing on the top layer of the skin. Kardashian's diagnosis was featured on the latest episode of her reality show, but the model and socialite opened up about the disease on her official blog.
The 30-year-old, who is scheduled to marry fiance Kris Humphries in August, told fans her sister thought the rash on her legs was "ringworm", adding, ".but it turns out I have psoriasis!! My mom has had psoriasis for years, so it's good that I can talk to her about it". She then reached out to followers for their help and advice, asking, "Do any of you have psoriasis or know anyone who does?" Currently, there is no complete cure for psoriasis but those diagnosed can use various treatments to help control the symptoms. When told by the dermatologist she was suffering from the disease, Kim said, "People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect. When I gain a pound it's in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots!".
The National Psoriasis Foundation issued a statement following the airing of 'Keeping up with the Kardashians', commenting on Kim's diagnosis. The foundation reassured other sufferers that the rash, "very infrequently appears on the face".
