Kings Of Leon star Caleb Followill has opened up about the band's heavily criticised performance at Britain's Reading festival last year (09) - insisting he suffered a "Kurt Cobain moment" during the set.
The Sex On Fire hitmakers put on a lacklustre show at the music event and struggled to win over the audience during a problematic set which was marred by sound problems, booing and windy conditions.
Followill became so frustrated during the gig he launched into a foul-mouthed rant, yelling at the crowd, "We know you're sick of Kings of Leon. We're f**king sick of Kings of Leon too... So for all those who don't give a f**k about us, I understand. But we've worked hard to be here. We're the goddamn Kings of Leon, so f**k you."
The singer now reflects on his meltdown as a "Kurt Cobain moment", admitting he had become sick of fame, like the late Nirvana frontman, and a catalogue of problems sent him into a rage.
He tells BBC 6 Music, "We were on the road and I'd just found out my house had been broken into. On top of that, the record was really doing good... (It was) my Kurt Cobain moment when I was hating the success and I was scared and thought people are gonna think that we did this on purpose and made this record so that it could be big.
"We took it out on a lot of people. Me in particular, I took it out on audiences (at Reading festival) where we had a big backlash and I took it out on the crowd. At the end of the day it was probably our fault, we probably just weren't performing the way we should have been."
