Kim Kardashian West is set to perform in a piano recital.

The 34-year-old reality TV star only recently started taking lessons from acclaimed Russian pianist Oksana Kolesnikova, who runs her own music school in Beverly Hills, California, after seeking a recommendation from producer pal Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds, but is already planning to surprise her family with a special performance at the school's annual showcase in May.

A source said she decided to get private tuition from the blonde beauty, who was mistakenly linked to Mel Gibson in 2009, after her older sister Kourtney Kardashian gave her a piano for Christmas in December.

The insider also told gossip website TMZ.com that the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star is practising a lot and is taking the upcoming event very seriously, as she used to watch her late father, Robert Kardashian, play the piano when she was younger.

Kim, who has 20-month-old daughter North West, recently revealed she is learning one of husband Kanye West's tracks.

She wrote on Twitter last week: ''I'm going to surprise Kanye by learning one of his songs

''He's hardly on social media so he won't know I'm tweeting this lol (sic)''
