Kim Kardashian thwarted a sneaky attack by her ex-husband Kris Humphries in their on-going divorce battle this week. Humphries' lawyer attempted to serve a subpoena on Kanye West - Kim's current boyfriend - by hiding the documents in a Nordstrom box and sending it to the Kardashian family home.
According to the New York Daily News, a "strange individual" showed up at Kardashian's home and loitered around for a couple of hours before asking for her boyfriend Kanye, who was unavailable (leaving Kim to take the delivery and open the box). Kim's lawyer - the divorce queen Laura Wasser - slammed the bizarre tactic in court on Wednesday (August 15, 2012). Humphries' lawyer Marshall Waller explained the incident to the judge, saying, "Our process server rang the doorbell and amazingly she answered. .He asked if (West) was present, and she said he was on the telephone. If Mr. West's attorney ever calls us back, we'll be happy to have a talk. But as a practical matter, that hasn't happened. We're jumping through hoops. We'll probably have to serve him in public". Kim has already racked up $250,000 in attorney's fees to officially end her marriage, though it's unclear what Humphries wants out of the whole thing. In a contentious court hearing, Wasser said she'd heard that Kris and his lawyers were out to put "reality TV on trial", and there seems to be sufficient evidence to back that up. Kris' lawyer told the court he wants to prove the marriage was a fraud - which Kim wanted to benefit her reality show - though it's unclear whether the judge will buy it.
On her way out of court, Wasser asserted, "We're just moving forward. My client just wants to be divorced". This could take some time.
